Frequently asked

RV rental questions, answered.

The fifteen questions we get most often about delivered RV rentals in Hampton Roads, Virginia Beach, and the Outer Banks. If something is not here, send us a note and we will add it.

How far in advance should I book an RV rental in Hampton Roads?

For summer weekends and holidays, we recommend booking three to six months out, especially if you want a specific rig like The Haven. Off-peak shoulder seasons (April, May, September, October) are usually bookable two to four weeks ahead. We also keep a short-notice cancellation list, so if you are flexible, send us a note even if availability looks tight.

Do I have to drive the RV myself?

No. Every Compass and Code Collective rental includes delivery and setup. We tow, level, and hook up the rig at your campsite, then come back at the end of your stay to pick it up. You never have to drive an unfamiliar vehicle, navigate a campsite turn, or back into a tight spot.

Where do you deliver?

Free delivery within 30 miles of Hampton. Tiered delivery fees out to a 90-mile radius, which covers all of Hampton Roads (Hampton, Virginia Beach, Norfolk, Chesapeake, Newport News, Williamsburg, Yorktown, Suffolk, Portsmouth, Smithfield) plus most of the Outer Banks. Beyond 90 miles, we evaluate case by case. Send us your destination and we will quote it honestly.

What is included in the rental price?

Delivery, setup at your campsite, full systems walk-through, fresh linens, towels, kitchen basics (cookware, plates, glasses, utensils), full fresh water tank, prepped gray and black tanks, propane, and pickup at the end of your stay. Cleaning is also included, so there is no surprise cleaning fee at checkout. You bring food, drinks, and personal items.

How does pricing work? Are there hidden fees?

Base rates start at $125 per night for BEBE, $145 per night for The Nest, and $185 per night for The Haven. On top of base, you pay delivery (free within 30 miles, tiered beyond) and a refundable security deposit. There is no separate cleaning fee, no separate setup fee, and no surprise charges at the end of your stay. We tell you the full number before you confirm.

What if something breaks during my trip?

Call or text the support line. Almost everything gets resolved with a video walkthrough or a quick visit. We carry commercial RV insurance through industry-specific policies, so the rig itself is covered. Your refundable deposit covers damage from misuse, but normal wear is on us.

Can I rent an RV in Virginia Beach without a tow vehicle?

Yes, and most of our renters do exactly that. We are a delivery service. You do not need a truck, a hitch, or any towing experience. We bring the rig to wherever you are camping and set it up before you arrive. Pull up in your sedan, walk into a fully staged RV.

What is your cancellation policy?

We follow Outdoorsy's standard policy if you book through their platform. For direct bookings, the deposit is fully refundable up to 14 days before your trip. Within 14 days we apply a tiered refund schedule that we share at the time of booking. Weather cancellations are handled case by case; we have rebooked many guests around storms with no penalty.

Are pets allowed in your RVs?

Yes, with a pet fee that varies by rig and length of stay. We ask for the breed and size up front so we can confirm. Service animals are always welcome at no additional charge. Just let us know in your booking notes.

Can I take the RV to the Outer Banks?

Yes. We deliver directly to OBX campgrounds including Cape Hatteras National Seashore, Oregon Inlet, Frisco Woods, and most private parks along NC-12. There is an additional fuel surcharge for OBX delivery that we quote upfront. We do not take the rigs onto the beach itself; OBX 4x4 beach driving requires a different vehicle.

How do I pay? Do you accept Outdoorsy bookings?

We accept direct booking via card or ACH, or you can book through our Outdoorsy listings. Direct booking saves you the marketplace service fee, which is usually 10 to 15 percent. Outdoorsy adds protection plans on their side; we are happy to walk through both options on a call.

What is the minimum number of nights?

Two-night minimum for most weekends. Three-night minimum for holiday weekends (Memorial Day, July 4th, Labor Day). Single-night rentals are available mid-week in shoulder season at the operator's discretion. Long-term rentals (week or more) get a per-night discount.

Do I need a special license to be picked up at a state park?

No special license is needed. Virginia state parks (First Landing, Kiptopeke, False Cape) and federal sites (Cape Hatteras National Seashore) all allow guest delivery. We coordinate the delivery time with the park rangers when needed. For Naval Station Norfolk and other military bases, we need your gate credentials in advance and we coordinate the delivery window with base security.

Can I book one of your RVs for a wedding, party, or event?

Yes. We have done bachelorette parties, beach weddings (rig parked as the bride's getaway suite), military homecomings, and corporate retreats. For event use, send us a note with the dates, the location, and what you have in mind. We have a separate event-day setup process and we usually need a bit more lead time.

How do I trust a small operator instead of a big marketplace?

Fair question. The honest answer: marketplaces give you breadth, we give you depth. Your tradeoff is fewer rig choices, against significantly more accountability per booking. Every rig is owned and operated by Compass and Code, every cleaning is done by people on our team, and every text message goes to the same person. Read the verified reviews. If you want to talk to a past guest, we will connect you with one.

Still have questions?

Send a quick note with your dates, your destination, and the rig you are interested in. We get back to every inquiry within one business day.
